XFS vs Ext4

Hello,

We are upgrading our MRI Lab servers and workstations to Rocky Linux 8. We have used ext4 for the past 10 years, however we are considering using XFS for its better performance with larger files and parallel processing. I'm curious to hear which file systems other AFNI users use.

Thanks,
Eddie

I do not know of anyone using XFS for the main file system, though I hear Red Hat Enterprise Linux might come with it.

If you have multiple disks and care more about data integrity than speed, I'd consider ZFS. Very cool features including transparent compression, checksumming, and snapshots. Easy to do disk-to-disk incremental backups as well.
