keyboard doesn't work

Hi,

I just install the AFNI in my iMAC.
Everything is fine, but I just can not key in any number in the AFNI GUI.
My keyboard doesn’t work in AFNI.

I have also updated my AFNI, I think it may probably be some problem happened during my AFNI installation?

I also check the AFNI by using ‘afni_system_check.py -check_all’
It only showed:

  • login shell ‘bash’, trusting user to translate code examples from ‘tcsh’
  • have python version 3.7.3, some programs need 2.7.x

Thanks a lot,
Li-Ming

Hi, Li-Ming-

What OS (Linux, Mac, Windows?) and what type of computer (laptop, desktop, iPhone, raspberry pi?) are you using?

Is your “NumLock” key on, on your keyboard? If so, that might be the culprit. If your download got interrupted or something, then that could cause a problem (having a broken binary).

The things noted in those afni_system_check messages shouldn’t affect the keyboard behavior.

You might have one of the accessibility options turned on like sticky or slow keys. These are sometimes turned on by holding the shift key down. The following keys will be mysteriously shifted, and you might not see any numerals at all. Check for the Accessibility settings (In Ubuntu and Fedora Gnome desktops, there is a shortcut in the upper right corner of the screen). Keyboard properties for laptops and other keyboard layouts can make getting to the numbers harder too.
