Five tenured research positions in COGNITIVE/BEHAVIOURAL NEUROSCIENCE or PSYCHOLOGY

The School of Psychology & Neuroscience at the University of Glasgow is expanding its academic programmes in cognitive/behavioural neuroscience and psychology. We seek to make the following appointments on the Research & Teaching (R&T) track ranging from Grade 7-9 (Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in the UK; assistant/associate professor in the US) to Grade 10 (full Professor). Post-holders will develop their own research programmes and assist with development and/or enhancement of our teaching programmes in cognitive and behavioural neuroscience.

The posts are as follows:

· THREE appointments in cognitive neuroscience/psychology. The term is broadly defined, but implies the use of brain investigative methods, for which we have a particularly supportive research environment. Our research in this area is internationally recognized, and facilities include 3T MRI/fMRI (for humans), 7T MRI/fMRI (for humans or animals), 7T MRI/fMRI (preclinical and clinical human studies), MEG, TMS and animal/human PET imaging. Within the above scope, we have particular strategic needs in MEG, and strongly encourage applicants with MEG expertise and a collaborative mindset.

· ONE appointment in psychology. We have a strategic ambition to develop our psychology research programme, with current strengths in social interaction, learning & memory and computation, and seek an excellent researcher in these or other areas.

· ONE appointment in animal behavioural neuroscience with a particular emphasis on teaching. We are developing a new academic programme in this area (also called “systems neuroscience”) comprising both research and teaching, incorporating the planned development of a new postgraduate curriculum alongside expansion of our undergraduate teaching programme and our animal neuroscience research programme. We thus seek a researcher with a passion for teaching and knowledge exchange to enhance our top-ranked teaching with cutting-edge research.

Appointments can range from Grade 7-9 (Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in the UK; assistant/associate professor in the US) to Grade 10 (full Professor). Please indicate which post and which grade you are applying to at the time of application.
