Following installation of AFNI, I can’t seem to launch the AFNI and SUMA GUIs. I’ll note that I’m running an Ubuntu terminal on Windows 10.
Here is the output for ‘afni’
Precompiled binary linux_ubuntu_16_64: Sep 13 2019 (Version AFNI_19.2.24 'Claudius')
** Version check disabled: AFNI_VERSION_CHECK forbids
Thanks go to T Holroyd for "quick" questions
Initializing: X11Error: Can't open display: :0.0
++ AFNI is detached from terminal.
And the output for ‘suma’
suma:
No input specified, loading some toy surfaces...
Use '.' and ',' to cycle between them.
See suma -help for assistance.
Error: Can't open display: :0.0
Any help or insight is appreciated! Again, I’m running an Ubuntu terminal on Windows 10 after downloading the Ubuntu app from the Windows Store.
Please make double-sure that you have done those steps. In particular, please note that you have to always start the VcXsvr every time before opening terminals (something Windows requires).
You should start your X server first when running any X11 program like AFNI. If you followed the install instructions here, you probably installed VcXsrv as your X server.
You could put the VcXsrv as a startup application on Windows to always load this first, or just double click the desktop shortcut before starting afni or suma GUIs.
Ah, I see. Thank you. Have just been following the Linux instructions, overlooked the Windows instructions. If there are any problems, I’ll jot them back here.
