Postdoctoral Scholar Position Available for Neuroimaging and Behavioral Project on Impulsivity and Development in Decision-Making in Adolescence and Young Adulthood
MIND Institute, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences University of California Davis
The Attention, Impulsivity and Regulation (AIR) Program at the UC Davis MIND Institute is recruiting a full or half-time position for a postdoctoral scholar for an NIH-funded project exploring the relationship between impulsivity and outcomes (i.e., psychiatric diagnoses including ADHD and other psychiatric symptoms or diagnoses, academic and occupational functioning, risk taking behavior, resiliency, etc.) in a longitudinal project in adolescents and young adults. We currently already have a rich longitudinal dataset that includes fMRI (using decision-making tasks, reward, cognitive control, emotional response), DTI, a variety of behavioral measures related to self-control, risk-taking, academic measures and numerous clinical assements. The population includes teens and adults who are “typical” (i.e., normally developing), those with attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and others with sub-clinical impulsivity. A major goal of the project is to identify how degree of impulsivity predicts later functioning in regard to real-life functioning (e.g., academic, occupational, substance use, resiliency) and psychiatric outcomes. Current data are available for analyses and ongoing data will be acquired over the next few years.
We are looking for a data scientist with expertise and experience with using advanced statistical modeling, such as predictive modeling, machine learning, specification curve analysis. The candidate should also have knowledge of neuroimaging data analysis, including longitudinal analyses, connectivity analyses, multi-voxel pattern analyses, OR should be willing to learn these image analysis techniques, under our guidance. A clinical background is an advantage but is not required.
As a postdoctoral scholar on the project you will be part of an interdisciplinary team that includes Julie Schweitzer, Ph.D. (P.I., UC Davis), Prerona Mukherjee, Ph.D. (U.C. Davis), Samuel McClure (A.S.U.), Ph.D., Catherine Fassbender, Ph.D., (Dublin City University), Wouter van den Bos, Ph.D. (Univ of Amsterdam), Amanda Guyer, Ph.D. (U.C. Davis) ), Steve Hinshaw (U.C. Berkeley & UCSF).
This is a one-year position, with the possibility of renewal for additional years.
Please send a C.V. and statement of interest to Prerona Mukherjee at pmukherjee@ucdavis.edu by August 30th if you are interested in the position.
