Postdoctoral Research Fellow Positions in Neuroimaging

Dr. David Zhu’s research team is recruiting two postdoctoral research fellows in neuroimaging with a focus on brain image data analysis. These research fellows will support and conduct neuroimaging research on our current NIH funded studies. Using multi-modal neuroimaging modalities, including MRI and PET, we focus on two research themes: (1) risk reduction for Alzheimer’s disease, and (2) traumatic brain injury. They will also work on the development of brain image data analysis techniques, under the guidance of Dr. Zhu. They will have a unique opportunity to work with a highly collaborative research team from multiple institutions, with exposure to cutting-edge research in neuroimaging, clinical neuroscience and vascular physiology. They will also gain valuable technical experience by working on image data from various MRI platforms.

Montefiore-Einstein is nationally recognized for clinical excellence. The successful candidate will work in the Gruss Magnetic Resonance Research Center (Radiology), where there are seven imaging research faculty and a research-dedicated Philips Ingenia Elition 3T human and a Bruker 7T animal MRI scanners.

The initial appointments are for one year and are renewable for the second and further years based on performance.


  • Ph.D. degree with a strong training in image data analysis in MRI and/or PET.
  • Excellent Linux skills.
  • Matlab and other programming skills.
  • Prior research experience in resting-state fMRI, ASL perfusion, DTI, SWI/QSM, flow quantification and PET is valuable.
  • Experience in using common brain image data analysis packages (AFNI, FSL, SPM and FreeSurfer) is helpful.
  • Strong skill in writing scientific papers.

Other skills also considered:

  • Deep learning on medical images
  • Pulse sequence programming experience on Philips scanners.
