Position: Postdoctoral Research Fellow (full time) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai

Description: The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will conduct research with large-scale neuroAIDS projects, which take a multidisciplinary approach to understanding motor and cognitive dysfunction in HIV. These research projects are conducted in collaboration with faculty in the Manhattan HIV Brain Bank (MHBB)/NeuroInfectious Diseases Division within the Neurology Department at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. The fellow will assist with analyses of newly collected and existing data in order to begin to develop an independent line of research. Primary responsibilities will involve collecting, managing, preparing, and analyzing neuroimaging and neurocognitive data. Additional activities include: (1) ensuring best practices for obtaining quality data for in-scanner and out-of-scanner protocols; (2) staying up-to-date on current neuroimaging and neurocognitive research approaches and models that inform active projects; (3) co-authoring/authoring manuscripts utilizing data originating from MHBB-related projects; and (4) assisting investigators with grant proposals, progress reports, and other related duties. Supervision of research assistants/students working on MHBB-related research projects may also be required.

The MHBB, member of the National NeuroAIDS Tissue Consortium (NNTC), is a research resource committed to providing scientists with densely annotated, high quality biospecimens in support of neuroAIDS and AIDS research. Located in New York City, it conducts longitudinal, observational neurologic, neuropsychologic, and psychiatric studies. The individual in this position will contribute to the MHBB’s aims of elucidating the biomechanisms underlying neuromotor, neurocognitive, and neuropsychiatric symptoms associated with HIV. This position offers the opportunity to work in a transdisciplinary environment with neuroimaging data embedded in the context of longitudinal studies that acquire multilevel assessments.
