Error message -- AFNI is detached from terminal

Hello,

I am getting the following message when I attempt to open AFNI through terminal on my macOS (Catalina)

"Precompiled binary macos_10.12_local: Jan 26 2020 (Version AFNI_20.0.02 ‘Galba’)

** Version check disabled: AFNI_VERSION_CHECK forbids

I have been able to open AFNI without any data but haven’t been able to get it to open when I am attempting to look at my lab’s imaging…

Also, I followed the instructions for setting up AFNI but haven’t been able to install R as well – I keep being prompted to enter a password, which I can’t find. I’ve tried entering my computer password and that doesn’t work either…not sure what to do (sorry I am a total n00b)

Please let me know if you have a solution~

Hi-

My guess is that Xquartz is not installed, which would be done as described here:
https://afni.nimh.nih.gov/pub/dist/doc/htmldoc/background_install/install_instructs/steps_mac.html#install-xcode-and-xquartz
… but to be more certain, what is the output of:


afni_system_check.py -check_all

?
